While the reduced carbon footprint of Guaranteed Rate Field was silver lining during an abbreviated season, the White Sox ballpark operations team also continued its commitment to introducing new eco-friendly solutions throughout the year. These green initiatives led the organization to be named a finalist for the annual Green Glove Award, presented by Major League Baseball.
In celebration of Earth Day 2021 and in recognition of the White Sox efforts to align with this global movement driving transformative change for the environment, Inside the White Sox blog is pleased to highlight the organization’s most recent sustainability milestones.
In addition to recycling nearly 50 percent of all ballpark waste, such as paper, plastics and aluminum, the team diverted more than 90 percent of all cardboard materials this year.
