DETROIT — Jose Abreu must be a heck of a bench coach.
On a night where the White Sox lineup was hampered by the absence of their biggest bat, the game swung on an eighth inning at-bat by the 2008 NL Rookie of the Year.
With two outs and runners on second and third, catcher Geovany Soto drilled the first pitch he saw for a tiebreaking two-run single to left. This gave the Sox a 7-3 win and vaulted them into first place in the AL Central.
Abreu could’ve been the pinch-hit hero, but the Sox let Soto win it.
