The White Sox saw a strong performance from pitcher Nick Nastrini in his sixth appearance of the year. The young right-hander pitched 4.1 innings, striking out five, allowing only one hit, and holding the Red Sox scoreless until the 5th inning.
The Red Sox got on the board with a solo home run by Bobby Dalbec in the 5th inning.
In response, in the bottom of the 5th, the White Sox offense ignited. Danny Mendick doubled, followed by walks to Corey Julks and Zach DeLoach, loading the bases. Andrew Vaughn then singled to score Mendick, tying the game 1–1.
