From the archives: First annual Soxfest in 1992

Bo Jackson took his first swing of the year for the White Sox Friday, making solid contact with his bat to cut a "SoxFest '92" banner during opening ceremonies at the Hyatt Regency Chicago for the team's inaugural fan convention.

SoxFest, held in the sprawling Wacker Hall in the hotel's lower level, seemed to be a hit with fans as well. According to White Sox promotions director Bob Grim, nearly 10,000 three-day tickets were sold in advance at $15 each. No attendance figure was available for the opening night, but Grim said $8 single-day tickets for Saturday were sold out.
