MINNEAPOLIS -- Frankie Montas has said all along he doesn’t have a preference about what his role is but rather where it is.
A day after he was promoted to the majors, the White Sox rookie said Wednesday he doesn’t care if he starts or pitches in relief. The White Sox have said Montas, one of four players promoted on Tuesday, would pitch in relief the rest of the season. But Montas has said it since last Fall he doesn’t care about his role as long as it best suits the White Sox.
“If you are in the bullpen, closer or a starter, you have to go out there and compete,” Montas said.
