Hawaii is more than 4,000 miles away from the South Side, but one of the greatest White Sox ever was one of the many people in Hawaii who received a false-alarm phone notification that the state was under attack.
Frank Thomas, visiting Hawaii, tweeted Saturday a screenshot of the message sent to his phone and the phones of thousands of others around 8 a.m. local time warning of an incoming ballistic missile.
What a morning here in Hawaii! We woke up with the biggest scare in my lifetime! Just total Panic and Uncertainty! pic.twitter.com/y2Pe8XM85T

The alert was a false alarm, a fact that was only transmitted to the recipients of the original notification after more than 30 minutes, according to the Washington Post.
