Former White Sox slugger Harold Baines on Hall of Fame ballot

Former White Sox outfielder Harold Baines is one of six players on the 10-man ballot for the baseball Hall of Fame's Today's Game Era committee to consider next month.

Albert Belle, who hit a combined 79 home runs while with the White Sox in 1997 and ‘98, also is on the ballot. So is late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, former managers Lou Piniella, Davey Johnson and Charlie Manuel, and former players Lee Smith, Will Clark, Orel Hershiser and Joe Carter.

The 16-man committee meets Dec. 9 at the winter meetings in Las Vegas.
