Former White Sox outfielder Aaron Rowand enjoying taste test as manager

Former White Sox outfielder Aaron Rowand said he doesn’t have any specific aspirations for the next step in his career, but he is having fun with his first foray into managing.

Rowand has spent the last month at Camelback Ranch managing the Arizona Fall League’s Glendale Desert Dogs, a combination of the top prospects from the Sox, Astros, Phillies, Dodgers and Pirates.

Rowand, who played five of his 11 major-league seasons with the Sox, was offered the opportunity this summer after joining the Sox staff last November as the minor-league outfield and baserunning instructor.
