As the White Sox rush toward the worst major league record of the modern era (post-1901), they are almost certain to blow by the team’s most losses ever, the 56-106 calamity of 1970. It could be history would repeat itself when it comes to recovery ... but don’t count on it, at least as long as Jerry Reinsdorf is alive.
Unlike this year, which comes at the end of a long string of losing seasons broken only by two years which were largely due to ridiculously easy schedules, 1970 was only three years past the amazing string of 17 consecutive winning years.
