Ray McDonald walked out of the Santa Clara County Jail on Monday after his latest legal troubles earlier in the day cost him his job with the Chicago Bears.
McDonald was released on bail, still facing misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and child endangerment stemming from an incident that occurred early Monday morning at an apartment in California.
And while details of the incident that led to McDonald’s Monday morning arrest remain limited, the defensive end is no longer part of the Bears’ plans with the team moving quickly to terminate his contract.
With a zero tolerance approach to a player who had been twice accused of assaulting women in 2014, the Bears opted not to take a wait-and-see approach on McDonald’s latest misstep, unconvinced that any details that may surface in the days and weeks to come would be enough to merit an investment in McDonald.
