Everybody had a story about Doug Buffone, especially Buffone himself

Doug Buffone loved to tell a stories, especially the one about his first game against the rival Packers.

It was a preseason game in 1966. He was a Bears rookie. He was a fourth-round draft pick. He was trying to make a play.

On this particular play, Buffone ended up rolling on the ground near the Packers sideline. He looked up, and looking down at him was legendary coach Vince Lombardi.

"He down at me with those yellow teeth of his," Buffone said, "and he said, 'Buffone, huh? That's Italian for clown.
