Eight runs is enough in the eighth inning for the White Sox

You can tell how tough Major League Baseball is by how quickly a game turns into a piranha-style feeding frenzy once a team loses its focus.

In the bottom of the eighth Sunday, it happened to the Padres, and the White Sox quickly turned a 3-1 deficit into a laugher so extreme the fans were doing the wave by the end of the inning. Five walks and a hit-by-pitch from three separate relievers, coupled with a backbreaking error by shortstop Luis Sardinas produced an eight-run inning as the White Sox cruised to a 9-3 win and a series victory.
