Eddie Einhorn was instrumental in putting the White Sox on pay-TV in the early 1980s, a controversial move that was ahead of its time.
Even though White Sox broadcaster Harry Caray left the team because of the decision, he later credited Einhorn for having the vision to see where televised sports was heading.
Einhorn, who passed away late Tuesday at the age of 80, was the Sox president from 1981-90. Caray was negotiating with Einhorn and Jerry Reinsdorf in 1981 on a deal to return to the Sox booth, where he was a popular figure.
