UPDATE: This article has been tweaked with the June 25 signing of second-round choice Matthew Thompson and the June 26 signing of first-rounder Andrew Vaughn.
With this week’s signing of two of the top three Chicago White Sox selections, Andrew Vaughn and Matthew Thompson, only Andrew Dalquist remains.
On the surface, this could be a concern, because this was a very top-heavy draft for the White Sox. Many of the second-day picks were expected to be under-slot signings to simply help pay for the top selections in this year’s draft; anything the second-day guys can produce in the minors would simply be a bonus.
