Double Duty Classic

Imagine stepping out onto the field, playing nine tough innings in front of a crowd of excited fans. Then, you return to your team bus to eat peanut butter and crackers and sleep on the bus because it was illegal for you to enter the restaurants or hotels in town. For many Negro Leaguers, they didn’t have to imagine. It was a reality.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick recounted the realities and challenges that African American baseball players faced in order to play the game, during the White Sox annual Double Duty Classic today.
