The White Sox and Eloy Jimenez made it official Friday afternoon. The team announced the terms of its record-breaking contract with one of baseball’s best prospects.
Jimenez, 22, received a $5 million signing bonus in addition to the six year, $43 million deal, the richest ever for a player with no service time before his major-league debut.
The outfielder will make salaries of $1 million this season, $1.5 million in 2020, $3.5 million in 2021, $6.5 million in 2022, $9.5 million in 2023 and $13 million in 2024. The Sox hold options for $16.
