KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The way he has thrown and feels, Derek Holland doesn’t need much run support.
The White Sox provided Holland with plenty anyway on Thursday afternoon. Jose Abreu and Matt Davidson both homered and Cody Asche and Avisail Garcia each got in on the fun as the White Sox pounded the Kansas City Royals 8-3 in front of 36,525 at Kauffman Stadium. Holland allowed one earned run in 6 2/3 innings to help the White Sox split a four-game series with the Royals. The White Sox improved to 4-3 on a road trip that ends with a three-game weekend series in Baltimore.
