Every one of the Chicago White Sox’s contract tendering decisions (due on Friday) are fairly simple, in that no one on the arbitration list brings little value to the field and/or high salary to the balance sheet.
All the decisions, that is, but one: Avisaíl García.
García is due an estimated $8 million in his last year of arbitration, and there are legitimate questions over whether García will be worth that salary.
Will he stay healthy? (Debatable/unlikely)
Is he worth $8 million even when healthy? (Beyond 2017, no.)
We’ve covered García quite a bit this season, including a midseason analysis of Avi’s power from Darren Jackson, and the more recent Deep Dive piece on Avi from wsm.
