Jose Abreu records his daily thoughts on pitchers and at-bats in a diary. After a year and a half in the major leagues, the White Sox first baseman has found the accumulation of information is starting to help him.
"When you have the opportunity to know the pitcher better, that gives you some kind of advantage, upper hand," Abreu said through a team interpreter. "But you have to work your way to get a very good approach in a game and a plan when you are in an at-bat."
In an age when every pitch is available for video replay, hitters' diaries aren't as common as they once were, but many players still use them, manager Robin Ventura said.
