Like almost everyone else associated with the White Sox, David Robertson anticipated a much different outcome this season.
The team that broke camp out of spring training included the big-ticket acquisition of Robertson as closer and appeared talented enough to make a run at the American League Central title.
Instead, the Sox are mired in fourth place and after Friday night's 6-2 loss to the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field are 66-73.
The premier reliever the Sox signed to a four-year, $46 million free-agent contract now is closing games that have little meaning as any chances of a postseason berth are sandwiched between slim and none.
