Yes, both of those storylines played out Monday night in an exhibition game against the Cubs, but what really mattered was the number of eyeballs paying attention to the Chicago White Sox.
According to NBC Sports Chicago, Sunday night’s game at Wrigley Field — the Sox’s first exhibition game since the March 12 sports shutdown — had a peak audience of 156,000 homes, and its 3.93 rating was the best for a Sox telecast on that channel since a loss to the Tigers on Sept. 11, 2012. It was also the highest-rated exhibition game in the history of the channel, which formerly was called Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
