It was a night to marvel at how two men, working closely together, can achieve something unforgettable.
But with one last batter for Giolito to retire Tuesday night in a ballpark bereft of fans, there came a reminder of just how well another pair mesh in NBC Sports Chicago play-by-play man Jason Benetti and analyst Steve Stone.
“And now the only man to reach base tonight for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Erik Gonzalez,” Benetti said, setting the stage with two outs in the top of the ninth and Giolito on the cusp of history.
