After an inauspicious start to their offseason, the Chicago White Sox enjoyed a very good day Thursday.
The Sox reportedly agreed to terms with a new pitching coach in Ethan Katz, the former high school coach of Lucas Giolito who fixed the right-hander’s mechanics and helped turn him into one of the league’s top starters.
And the Sox also found a new radio home in WMVP-AM 1000, ending their brief run on WGN-AM 720 and theoretically giving them more exposure with a sports-talk outlet as their flagship station.
It was the kind of day the Sox probably wish they could’ve bottled, if not for one notable hiccup — the team’s statement regarding manager Tony La Russa’s DUI arrest.
