The Hall of Fame announcement arrives Tuesday, and it looks as if the Baseball Writers’ Association of America will pitch a shutout with no new members selected in 2021.
That would mean last year’s class — Derek Jeter, Larry Walker and the late union chief Marvin Miller — are the only ones to be honored in July during Hall of Fame ceremonies in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Their induction ceremony in 2020 was canceled because of the pandemic, as was a separate ceremony for Frick award winner Ken “Hawk” Harrelson and Spink award winner Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
