The other White Sox rookies also wore silly costumes as they departed Thursday for Cleveland to start a 10-day, 11-game trip. The pre-planned initiation ritual conveniently served to lighten the mood after a ninth-inning loss to the Athletics on the Sox's last day at home for a while.
But it wasn't long Friday before it soured again at the left arm of Chris Sale, disguised recently as someone far less dominant than his normal self, and the Sox defense, looking a little like the frightful ensemble trotted out earlier this season.
