The lone stain on Chris Sale's Thursday night came on the first pitch of the eighth inning at U.S. Cellular Field, when Evan Gattis hit an 89 mph changeup over the fence in left field.
Sale's record, however, remains unblemished after a 2-1 victory over the Astros.
Sale became just the second pitcher in Sox history to go to 9-0 through his first nine starts, joining infamous Black Sox starter Eddie Cicotte, who won his first 12 in 1919.
Sale gave up one run on four hits in his third complete game of the season and second in seven days, a model of efficiency the Sox have spoken about with pride this year.
