Chris Getz says biggest White Sox lesson from Royals' rebuild is patience

When Chris Getz drove into Kannapolis, N.C., last month to the visit the White Sox's Class A team, memories came rushing back.

Twelve years ago, in his first season of professional baseball, Getz helped the Kannapolis Intimidators win the South Atlantic League championship. In the time since, Getz has gone from minor-league infielder to a major-league veteran of 459 games with the Sox, Royals and Blue Jays to one of the newest Sox front-office members.

Named the Sox director of player development in October, Getz, 33, hopes the experiences he crammed into those last dozen years will help him in his new task of molding a restocked farm system into a major-league contender.
