Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn was recognized for putting together a playoff team, as he finished second in voting for Major League Baseball’s 2020 Executive of the Year Award, MLB announced Tuesday.
The Sox were major players last offseason, making moves that helped them reach the playoffs for the first time since 2008. They tied for second with the Cleveland Indians in the American League Central with a 35-25 record and were the No. 7 seed in AL playoffs, losing a best-of-three wild-card series to the Oakland Athletics in three games.
Other moves included adding pitcher Dallas Keuchel and catcher Yasmani Grandal in free agency.
