Mike Shirley has become very familiar with Zoom as he prepares for the MLB draft in his new role as the director of amateur scouting for the White Sox.
“We have been in Zoom meetings probably seven hours per day for the last three weeks,” Shirley said Tuesday during a conference call.
The Sox have the No. 11 overall pick in this year’s draft, which takes place June 10-11. Shirley was promoted to his new position last September after previously serving as the team’s assistant scouting director.
He is confident the Sox will be ready for a draft that, because of the coronavirus pandemic, will be unlike any other.
