Chicago White Sox can clinch the American League Central today as they face the Cleveland Indians in a split doubleheader at Progressive Field

Win just one game of Thursday’s split doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field and they’re in the postseason.

The team’s magic number for clinching the American League Central is two. A victory against the second-place Indians would give the Sox their first division title since 2008.

“Today is one of those days that you long for,” Sox manager Tony La Russa said before Game 1. “When you wake up in the morning, you know if things work you can be some type of champion. This is a great day to be a White Sox player.
