Casey Gillaspie among cuts as White Sox trim spring roster to 38

The White Sox cut their spring training roster to 38 by making seven moves after Friday’s 6-3 loss to the Cubs.

First baseman Casey Gillaspie was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. Pitchers Chris Beck, Connor Walsh and Dane Dunning, infielders Jake Elmore and Patrick Leonard and catcher Seby Zavala were reassigned to minor-league camp.

Dunning pitched two scoreless innings Friday. Beck, who pitched for the Sox for parts of 2016-17, had an 8.59 ERA in six spring appearances.

The Sox’s spring roster now is comprised of 21 pitchers, three catchers, seven infielders and seven outfielders.
