Can White Sox prospect Zack Collins be a major-league catcher?

The subject was Zack Collins, and White Sox minor-league catching coordinator John Orton already knew the question.

It's the same one everybody has been asking him since the Sox selected Collins 10th in the June draft — and the one scouts had been trying to answer long before that.

Can he catch?

Orton, a former big-league catcher beginning his 17th season in the Sox organization, watched Collins play for Miami in the College World Series last summer and reached a conclusion to that question. He hasn't changed his opinion after working with the Sox's No. 6 prospect since then, including for the past month at major-league spring training at Camelback Ranch.
