White Sox manager Rick Renteria is bashful about his league-leading five ejections. He’s not quite The Incredible Hulk out there, but there’s a Bruce Banner level of sobriety in his postgame analysis.
“I'm sure I'm going to deal with here in the next 24-48 hours,” Renteria lamented Wednesday night, referencing the league’s undiscussed policy for fining managers after ejections. “We always try to have conversations with the umpires. They’re human beings, they make mistakes, they’re doing the best job that they can. I would just simply reiterate that the players and coaches and managers have a total vested interest in the outcome of the ballgame and it’s kind of hard to take away the spirit and fire of an individual expressing themselves.
