Cactus League report: Kyle Hendricks gives Chicago Cubs manager David Ross a scare, and White Sox starter Dallas Keuchel adjusting to new rules

Opening day is two weeks away, and starters are beginning to ramp up to get their pitch counts up for the regular season.

Chicago Tribune baseball writers LaMond Pope, Meghan Montemurro and Paul Sullivan will be providing updates from the Cactus League on Monday through Friday throughout spring training.

Cubs manager David Ross momentarily worried when he saw No. 1 starter Kyle Hendricks fall after colliding with San Diego Padres first baseman Jake Cronenworth during Wednesday night’s game in an effort to avoid getting thrown out from right field on a hit.

“I think I threw up in my mask there for a second,” Ross said Thursday.
