By the numbers: Chicago Cubs win 60th game

The Chicago Cubs improved to an major league-best 60-40 with a win over the Chicago White Sox Wednesday. The Cubs did not record a hit off Anthony Ranaudo until a Kris Bryant home run in the sixth inning, but then they exploded for eight runs in the final three innings in the 8-1 win.

It’s the first time the Cubs have reached 60 wins within their first 100 games of a season since 1977, when they also started 60-40. That ‘77 team went 21-41 after winning game No. 100 and missed the playoffs with an 81-81 record.
