Back from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Hendriks pitches for White Sox

CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox reliever Liam Hendriks allowed two runs on three hits and a walk to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, his first outing since recovering from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Hendriks, 34, got several standing ovations, both before he took the mound and then when he entered the game in the top of the eighth inning. He pitched one inning.

"It was definitely emotional," Hendriks said after the 6-4 loss. "It was humbling going out there and seeing the amount of people wearing my shirts, the amount of people having signs or flags or anything like that -- the amount of people that were chanting when I came into the game.
