In the midst of managing the White Sox to a fourth straight disappointing season, Robin Ventura hopes he’ll be given another shot in 2016.
“Absolutely,” Ventura said Tuesday when asked if he wanted to return next year. “People that think I don’t care, that’s an unfair assessment. Nobody cares more about how it’s going here than I do.”
Ventura, who is under contract for 2016, has managed the Sox to a 286-336 record in nearly four seasons heading into Tuesday’s game against the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field. That includes a 65-71 mark this season, one in which the Sox made known in spring training that they expected to be contenders.
