The talented class of “Next Sox” currently is preparing in places as distant as Glendale, Ariz., Bellevue, Wash., and the Dominican Republic.
But as it develops, the White Sox still need to complete the unfinished business of fleshing out their 25-man roster.
A source confirmed that free agent Jesse Chavez is on the list of stopgap starters as the Sox vow not to rush any of their talented but unfinished prospects in the upper minor leagues.
Chavez, 34, could fill a role Miguel Gonzalez filled for most of the last two seasons. The Sox were interested in Chavez before the 2016 season and he can relieve as well as start and mentor younger pitchers.
