Every once in awhile, you'll see a commentator on television (or in print) talk about the ‘young, fast Oilers' and flash a highlight of Connor McDavid in full flight. Fact is this edition of Edmonton's NHL team has a real problem in this regard. The current group of forwards appear to be either old and slow, or fast and inexperienced.
Todd McLellan has some real challenges up front and one of the main items is foot speed. The top line last night featured McDavid—the fastest man alive—along with Patrick Maroon (he is the best skater on the team among left-wingers, and well suited to the trailer role) and young Kailer Yamamoto, who can keep up because of good speed plus brilliant quickness.
