The Cubs had three players selected to last year’s All-Star team in Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro and Jeff Samardzija, who didn’t get to participate on the NL squad because he was dealt to Oakland before the game.
With the July 2nd voting deadline closing in, no Cub player is close to being voted into the starting lineup, with Kris Bryant the only one as high as second, well behind Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter.
Rizzo, who ranks fourth in fan voting at first base, should make it again on the players’ ballot, though sometimes that can be as hard to predict as the fan vote.
