Anthony Ranaudo's White Sox debut exceeded expectations as he pitched into the seventh inning against the Cubs on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.
Throwing a no-hitter through 5 1/3 innings and a one-hitter through 6 2/3 innings, and also homering for his first major-league hit, were the ingredients for a special night.
But that night lasted a couple of hitters too long.
With the game tie 1-1 with two outs in the seventh, Ranaudo walked Jason Heyward and then gave up a two-run homer to Javier Baez on his 107th and final pitch.
