By late Sunday afternoon, Opal and Faaloloi Manaea had watched the replay of Sean Manaea’s no-hitter against the Boston Red Sox five times.
That was after experiencing it live Saturday night from their winter home in Estero, Fla.
Opal was still giddy about how her son, a starting pitcher for the Oakland A’s, had become an overnight superstar after striking out 10 and walking two on 108 pitches against the best team in baseball.
The A’s have had 12 no-hitters in their history, which spans over a hundred years. Their last no-hitter was a perfect game by Dallas Braden in 2010.
