On game days, Drake LaRoche can often be found inside the White Sox clubhouse, hanging out at his locker or with players watching TV before heading out to shag balls during batting practice.
All of this is routine for a player in the daily hours-long buildup to Major League Baseball games. But Drake LaRoche isn't a major leaguer. He's a minor. He's Adam LaRoche's 13-year-old son.
When the Sox signed designated hitter Adam LaRoche to a two-year contract in November, they also brought on board Drake. Or as Adam calls him, the Sox's "26th man."
Players' children stealing the spotlight at news conferences or teams welcoming kids into clubhouses is nothing new.
