Adam Eaton is designated for assignment as the Chicago White Sox reinstate Adam Engel from the 10-day injured list

The Sox signed Eaton to a one-year, $8 million deal during the offseason to be their starting right fielder. He is slashing .201/.298/.344 with eight doubles, two triples, five home runs, 28 RBIs and 33 runs in 58 games.

Eaton hit .233 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 22 April games. But he hit .158 with two homers and seven RBIs in 21 May games and .161 in 11 June games. He was on the injured list from June 17 through July 1 with a right hamstring strain.
