José Abreu — who is tied for the major-league lead in doubles (26) and leads all American League first basemen in All-Star votes — crushed his 11th homer, a two-run shot, and drove in his 39th and 40th runs in the Sox’ 5–2 loss to the Indians.
As a result, the Sox split the four-game set with the AL Central leaders and are a respectable 2–0–2 in their last four series.
Carlos Rodón, in his second start with the Sox after returning from injury, pitched admirably.
