4 takeaways from Chicago White Sox camp, including Nick Madrigal’s Opening Day goals, Yoan Moncada’s progress toward exhibition games and Luis Robert’s home run derby

When White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal first arrived to spring training back in February, he started tinkering with different bat weights. He started experimenting with a heavier bat, but he never felt comfortable with it and admitted he started pressing a bit.

He’s returned to a slightly lighter bat — measuring about 33 inches and 30.25 ounces — during White Sox summer camp this time around and the results are starting to show.

“I’ve always wanted to show everyone what kind of player I am,” Madrigal said during a video conference Saturday. “Usually doesn’t work the best for me on the field, but yeah, this time around kind of enjoying it more and it’s starting to show more on the field.
