One potential fit for Quintana is on the North Side with the Cubs, who crave starting pitching and have what the White Sox are looking for in a deal — a deep minor-league roster of promising prospects.

White Sox GM Rick Hahn said he wouldn't eliminate the Cubs in trade discussions simply because the two teams are within the same city’s boundaries.

The two teams haven’t dealt with each other much in their histories, with the last trade coming in 2006.
