The Mauricio Pineda Hype Train is leaving the station

Let’s face it, 2020 hasn’t been the best year for most of us. But, to be fair, most of us aren’t Mauricio Pineda.

Let’s take a quick look back at Pineda’s first half-year with Chicago Fire FC:

January

  • After wrapping up a stellar career at the University of North Carolina, Pineda signs a Homegrown Contract with the Fire.

March

  • Pineda starts both matches for the Fire prior to the coronavirus shutdown. He goes all 90 minutes against the Sounders to open the season, then follows it up with another full-match performance against the New England Revolution, in which he starts at defensive midfielder, then slides back to central defender for the final 30 minutes after Gastón Giménez entered the match.
