Fabian Herbers and Robert Beriu0107 continued their hot streaks with first half goals, helping the Chicago Fire to a 2-0 win over Atlanta United Sunday night at Soldier Field.
With the victory, the Fire leapfrogged Atlanta in the Eastern Conference standings, and now occupy the 10th and final playoff spot. Along with the 4-0 win over Houston on Wednesday, it marks the Fire’s first two-game winning streak of the season, and it’s three wins out of five matches at home.
“From the beginning, we wanted to come in and make [Soldier Field] our fortress,” Fire defender Jonathan Bornstein said following the win.
