I was at a Belleville Senators game last weekend to see several interesting prospects Ottawa has in its AHL ranks.
Thomas Chabot, a first-round pick in 2015, was the main attraction from a scouting standpoint. Last year’s World Junior MVP (on top of a mountain of other accolades from the season) generated some buzz when he was cut from Ottawa’s camp, as the team looks for him to round out his game.
While I initially went to the game expecting to be blown away by Chabot, it was another Ottawa prospect that made the most noise: a second-round pick from the same draft Filip Chlapik.
